This is a stylized weapon inspired by Seven's "Cold Calculus" Rifle from the Hero Shooter "Deadlock". This was modeled with Maya and ZBrush and textured in Substance Painter, Marmoset, and Photoshop. The renders were made with Marmoset, Blender, and After Effects.
Everything here was made by me, aside from the lightning arcs used in the video, which was a Blender geometry node pack by Joey Carlino on Youtube.
Deadlock is an unreleased game by Valve that I have been playing a lot of lately, with its unique and beautiful art style pulling me in immediately. What better place to pull reference from for making portfolio work? This gun is used by "Seven", a powerful mystic using his psychic control of electrical currents to break the rules and take control of fights. Seven lives in New York's old subway tunnels, so I figured he might have picked up some graffiti and tagging in his spare time. I took the liberty to add some of his imagined tags and doodles to the gun, as well as his engraved dreams of gaining godlike powers on the stock. My goal with this project was to follow the existing reference of the gun strictly, while pushing the model to a more finished look. I used the Abrams models from the game as well, as a recent patch released his finished model, giving me more direction and guidance on the finished look.
